I recently stayed at a wonderful hostel in Kota Kinabalu for a short trip. The friendly and helpful staff provided us with loads of information on local trips and places to see. The hostel was incredibly clean, with good air conditioning and kitchen facilities. I was impressed with the laundry facilities, offering both a dryer and an area for air drying. The reading lights and conveniently located plugs next to each bed were also a nice touch.

Would definitely recommend this hostel.
